Chingford Under-15s almost upset the odds to beat Finchley but were edged out 29-22 in an enthralling game.
Jim Downey opened the scoring for Chingford early on before Finchley drew level soon after.
Chingford remained on top however, and two tries from Andreas Constantinou and Calum Cox put the visitors 15-5 ahead.
Finchley hit back again though, as a converted try reduced the gap to just three points before another score put the home side 19-15 up at half-time.
Chingford were carrying a few knocks into the second period and their opponents took full advantage to extend their lead to to 24-15 with another try.
A brave comeback looked on the cards however, when Josh Oranu-Noah touched down in the corner with Cox converting superbly from out wide.
Chingford piled on the pressure but their hopes were ended when Finchley scored again late on to put the game to bed.
