Terry Chisholm led his Foxes team to a narrow victory in the three-way Tigers, Foxes and Rabbits competition at Woodford Golf Club on Saturday.
The Foxes team of mid-handicap golfers chalked up 8.5 points to prevail over the Rabbits team of high handicappers, who scored eight points, with the low handicap Tigers coming in with 7.5 points.
The popular annual match proved a resounding success for competition secretary Michael Jones, who had amended the rules to make it a more level fairway field.
Had one Tigers player sunk a short putt at the death, the match would have ended as a tie for the first time.
Ably marshalled by Peter Rogers, the Secretary’s team defeated the Captain’s team by 4.5-3.5 in the annual seniors’ matchplay competition last week.
Alex Lyons presented the cup to Rogers after a lunch at the Sunset Avenue clubhouse.
