Old Loughtonians men thrashed Oxted 4-1 at Luxborough Lane on Saturday to move up to sixth in the the Men’s Now: Pensions Conference East.

Both teams entered the match needing a win after some disappointing recent results and the early play was concentrated in the middle of the park with both teams tussling for control.

The best chance of the first half fell to George Farrant two yards out but the Oxted keeper made a good save and it remained 0-0 at the interval.

Loughts had the better of the second period however and, having gone a goal behind, they started to dictate the play.

The equaliser came when Xavi Artigas stole the ball from the Oxted defence and fed Stuart Hardy, who finished well through the keeper’s legs.

The second goal followed soon after when a flowing move down the right-hand side of the pitch found Hardy who crossed the ball for Conor Caplan to finish into the top corner at the back post.

The third goal came in the 68th minute and killed off the game.

Swallow threw an aerial ball over the top of the Oxted defence that fell for Caplan and he out-paced the defence and casually lobbed the keeper for a goal that pleased the crowd.

The result was sealed with a 70th-minute overtime short corner which was slipped left and slapped towards Hardy, who scored his second of the game with a deft deflection.

Loughts face St Albans on Saturday in a National League/Cup double before a trip to Birmingham to face Bournville on Sunday.

Loughts ladies are second in the East Conference after coming from two goals down to beat St Albans 3-2 on Saturday.

It was the visitors who took the lead with a neatly-worked goal on the baseline but with Loughts creating chances at the other end, they looked more than capable of equalising.

However, against the run of play, it was St Albans who got the second goal with a well-taken penalty corner.

With time running out at the end of the first half, Loughts responded as Alice Wills deflected the ball in to the goal with a well-rehearsed move from a short corner to make it 2-1.

In the second period, it was another well-practiced corner routine that brought the equaliser which Chloe Rogers flicked powerfully in to the right-hand corner of the goal.

With the game becoming more open, Loughts started to create more opportunities and when Wills countered quickly, she fed Heidi Baber, who slotted home the winner.
