Waltham Forest men secured a well-deserved 4-2 win against City of Peterborough on Saturday.

Forest started strongly and could have been two up within the first five minutes but a combination of lacklustre finishing and poor decision making kept the game scoreless.

More chances came and went until eventually Liam Radley opened the scoring with a goal which owed a lot to his persistence.

The few times the opposition did venture forward, the defence easily kept the Peterborough forwards at bay and Forest made it 2-0 from a well-worked short corner routine which Luce Da Silva tapped in at the far post.

That should have seen the game done and dusted but a lapse in concentration allowed Peterborough to pull a goal back.

Forest stepped up a gear and restored their advantage when Ed Jackson scored from a rebound after a short corner had been saved.

Petrborough scored another goal to make it 3-2, setting up a tense final ten minutes. But the win was confirmed when Forest were awarded a penalty flick and man-of-the-match Nico Kurt dispatched it high into the roof of the net.

Waltham Forest ladies remain undefeated this season after they beat Basildon 1-0 on Saturday.

Lucy Butcher scored the decisive goal after just five minutes, finishing off a great run with a strike from the top of the D.

Forest had chances to extend their lead in the first half but failed to convert and while they continued to dominate in the second period, Forest also had keeper Mog Campbell to thank for keeping them in front with two excellent saves.
