Redbridge held title challengers Maldon & Tiptree to a 0-0 draw at home on Tuesday night in the Ryman North Division.

The Motormen were more than a match for their highly-placed opponents and have now lost just once in seven matches in the league.

Maldon had chances early on but Redbridge grew into the game and could have gone in at half-time ahead had Daniel Tenkorang done better with his finish after cutting inside his marker.

Jack Sawyer’s long-range effort skimmed the crossbar for the home side in the latter stages but in the end both teams were happy to settle for a draw.

The result means Redbridge have taken four points from two tough matches after they sealed an impressive 2-1 win away at Needham Market on Saturday.

Market, who are one place above the Motormen in the league, took the lead after four minutes through Kemal Izzet and held their advantage until the interval.

Three minutes into the second period however, Abs Thompson pulled Redbridge level and ten minutes from time Ben Bradbury grabbed a winner for the visitors.

The Motormen are eighth in the table and only three points off second albeit having played at least one more game than the teams around them.

On Saturday, they face lowly-placed Wroxham away.

Waltham Abbey are out of the Essex County Cup after losing 5-0 on Tuesday night to Skrill South side Concord Rangers.

James Peagram had two chances in the first half but the Abbotts were never really in the contest as two goals put Rangers in command at half-time before three more in the second period rounded off a convincing win.

It was the second cup defeat in four days for Paul Wickenden’s men, who exited the FA Trophy on Saturday after a 3-0 defeat at Arlesey Town.

Abbey will be hoping to bounce back in the league on Saturday when they travel to Barkingside.

Waltham Forest missed the chance to move off the bottom of the table as they slipped to a disappointing 1-0 defeat at home to Barkingside.

With a number of players missing, the Stags struggled to establish any rhythm in the first half and went behind in the 13th minute after Toran Senghore scored the goal which proved decisive.

Turgut Esendagli’s side will be hoping for a stronger performance when they host Erith & Belvedere on Saturday and the Stags have made five more new signings to bolster their survival hopes.

Strikers Dom Petrucci, Lee Scott and Adam Murad have all joined the club, while goalkeeper Charlie Crowley and Bart Koprowski have also been added to the ranks.
