Third XI Premier Division
Wanstead and Snaresbrook Thirds were in a ruthless mood as they chased down Brentwood Thirds’ total to win by nine wickets.
Batting first, visitors Brentwood could only muster 145 before being removed by the in-form Walid Sherzai.
Third man in Nigel Bacon smashed his way to an unbeaten 89 before running out of partners. Only Tharbish Mowlana (17) also reached double figures.
The impressive Sherzai finished with five for 27, with Ali Wood close behind on three for 35.
Bentwood could have been forgiven for thinking it was going to be their day when opener Jay Williams went for five but that was as good as it got for the away side.
Karan Singh (67) and Naail Dar (57) picked up the baton and wasted little time in driving the hosts over the line.
An unbeaten knock of 106 from Ash Mohammed saw Buckhurst Hill Thirds beat South Woodford Thirds by eight wickets.
Hosts Buckhurst won the toss and inserted their visitors Buckhurst, starting well by removing opener Larry Cant for a duck.
Tayyib Iqbal managed 39 and 36 from Omer Qureshi helped South Woodford reach 182 before being bowled out.
Shahid Maan was Woodford’s leading wicket taker, claiming three for 39.
The hosts wasted little time in reaching the required target, Mohammed put on an unbeaten 106 before Maan (36) completed the job with only two wickets lost.
Tahmoor Nawaz and Gordon Clarke took the two wickets for South Woodford.
Woodford Wells Thirds shared the runs around to trounce Ilford Thirds at home by 196 runs.
It wasn’t until a knock of 85 from Joe Hall at number five that Woodford looked dangerous, going on to reach 301 all out.
Malik Rehman and Ketan Korgaonkar claimed three wickets apiece for the visitors but they counted for little.
Faced with a daunting total to chase down, Ilford fell well short as they were removed for just 105.
Harsh Kumar top-scored with 19 as Deepak Sinha (three for eight) tore into the visitors.
Third XI Division One
Wanstead and Snaresbrook Fourths lost by six wickets at Harlow Thirds, despite a careless bowling display from the hosts.
Fifty-three extras, including 23 wides, helped Wanstead reach a total of 214 for eight, which was not looking likely after a slow start with the bat.
Openers Bilal Patel (eight) and Barney Mead (seven) were dismissed early before Nabeel Aziz (47) and Muhammad Arish (42) steadied the ship.
Soulat Ali took two for 19 and Jack Sykes claimed two for 29 for the hosts.
Dipendra Basnet hit 68 to set Harlow off on a solid footing and Asad Aleem Baig managed 57 as the hosts reached 217 for four.
Inquiyad Chowdhury did his bit with the ball, taking three for 23 for Wanstead.
Eighty from Mark Campbell helped Chingford Thirds to a 29-run win over Harold Wood Thirds.
Malik Kashif Jamal (51) supplemented Campbell’s knock as the hosts hit 212 for six before declaring.
Bradley Ayling, Jack Stallibrass and Chris Clarke shared the wickets equally.
Wood lost a number of wickets without making any inroads on their target and only 54 from Clarke at 11 prevented a heavier defeat.
Richard Offord and Jack Bassett both finished with three wickets.
Fives and Heronians Thirds suffered a heavy 197-run defeat at home to Chelmsford Fourths.
The visitors declared on 278 for five before skittling their hosts out for a paltry 81.
Third XI Division Two
Loughton Thirds won by 14 runs at Billericay Thirds after a poor batting display from the hosts.
Having won the toss, Loughton opted to have first use of the wicket and made 192 before being dismissed.
Riki Laird (72) top-scored from well down the order and opener Naved Ali made a useful 47 before being removed.
George Childs was the star man with the ball, removing six Loughton wickets for 48 runs.
It took until Raza Rizvi (36) came in at number five for the hosts to make any inroads on the scoring, with James Yates (44) and Alfie Cobden (32) following suit.
Ultimately though, it was not enough and Billericay were removed on 178.
Connor Sorrell took four for 28 for the visitors as they squeezed to a win.
West Essex Thirds struggled with the bat as they suffered an eight-wicket home loss to Hornchurch Thirds.
Opting to bat first, the hosts struggled to get going and made just 149 before being removed.
Colin Baxter was West Essex’s top scorer with an unbeaten 27.
Mian Tafeeq (three for 35) and M.Khan (three for 28) were the main source of wickets for the away side.
Hornchurch wasted no time in chasing down the target, reaching 151 for the loss of just two wickets.
Omer Mahmood (62) and Abdul Hasnat (60) did the damage as Hornchurch cruised to victory.
Third XI Division Three
Sriram Pathmarajah fell eight runs short of a century as Wanstead and Snaresbrook Fifths won at South Woodford Fourths.
Put into bat first, the hosts were grateful for a knock of 69 from Arshad Rehman. Imran Abrahim was the second-highest scorer with 31.
Peter Apps took five wickets for Wanstead as the home side declared on 251 for nine.
Pathmarajah (92) and Nicholas Arnold (83) led the Wanstead reply as the visitors reached 252 for four to win.
Rohit Sohal and Rehman took two wickets apiece.
Seventy-eight not out from Darren Howard denied Loughton Fourths a more comprehensive win at Hutton Fourths.
Having struggled to get going with the bat, an unbeaten 78 from Howard at six helped the hosts to reach 188 before being bowled out.
Mansoor Ahmed claimed three for 35 and Furqan Ali took three for 36 for Loughton.
The visitors made light work of reaching 192 to win, losing just two wickets.
James Crowe (88) top-scored to guide the visitors to victory.
