Second XI Premier Division
Richard MacGregor took seven wickets to carry Chingford Seconds to a 21-run victory over Buckhurst Hill Seconds.
Inserted into bat, hosts Chingford started well with Zishan Rehman (61) putting on a good score.
Thirty-one each from Sam Levido and James Hill pushed the Chingford total onto 210 for eight before they declared.
Sam Sullivan took five for 38 for Buckhurst Hill, who faltered with the bat in reply.
Prashant Chand-Bajpal (73) and David Roberts (22) opened well but from there, the visitors struggled. Despite a handful of late runs, they closed on 189 all out.
MacGregor (seven for 71) and Richard Offord (three for 57) did the damage for the home side.
Wanstead and Snaresbrook Seconds suffered a blow in their title push, with Upminster seconds securing a four-wicket success.
Inserted into bat, visitors Wanstead saw opener Joseph Palmer hit 45 from 66 balls but the runs began to slow, with Steven Ramdial (44) the pick of the middle order.
Daniel Tyler proved a menace with the ball for the hosts. He took six for 65 to rattle through Wanstead’s line-up and dismiss the visitors for 211.
In reply, half-centuries from James Evans (54) and Jason McNally (58) carried the home side to the points, with a total of 214 for six.
South Woodford Seconds held third-from-bottom Shenfield Seconds to a draw, narrowly avoiding defeat.
Batting first, the hosts opened encouragingly with Larry Cant (48) and Shaun Gymer (46) getting runs on the board.
From there though, the Shenfield bowling attack took charge. Ryan Lugg (five for 71) restricted the home side to 193 for nine.
Shenfield also reached 193, with Danny Hazle (48) providing the key knock.
Gymer (two for 23) and Ryan Correya (two for 51) picked up the best bowling figures as the away side were held to 193 for six from three less overs than their hosts.
Second XI Division One
Fahad Anwar hit 80 to guide Loughton Seconds to a three-wicket win over Hainault and Clayhall Seconds.
Electing to bat first, the visitors struggled at the crease and despite knocks of 48 and 53 from Hussain Ali and Adeel Malik, could only stumble to 190 all out.
Asim Asleem proved vital in keeping the Hainault score down, finishing with three for 34.
Anwar (80) and Daniel Gymer (33) got the Loughton response off to a strong start before Ben Sly (27) helped push the hosts’ total to 194 for seven.
Woodford Wells Seconds remain on course for promotion after a five-wicket defeat of Fives and Heronians Seconds.
Visiting Fives won the toss and elected to bat first but began slowly, with Neil Brathwaite bowled out for a duck and Hugo Blogg making just 14.
The runs began to trickle further down the order, with Michael Batt making 31 as Louis Poynter (six for 33) took control with the ball to remove the visitors for 142.
James Tuplin opened the Wells’ innings with 43 and further knocks of 43 and 27 not out from Nicholas Sims and Thomas Corbyn completed the job, with the home side reaching 146 for five.
Second XI Division Three
Epping Seconds were plunged into fresh relegation trouble after a 101-run loss at home to Old Southendian and Southchurch Seconds.
Connor Mortlok (56) opened well for Old Southendian, who saw further runs from Russel Dennis (29) and Sam Hodgson (26) push their total to 199 all out.
The hosts never caused a threat and after losing Manni Bawa (30) at number four, failed to score with any consistency before being skittled out for 98; Michael Bunce taking four for 42.
Oakfield Parkonians Seconds were comfortably beaten at Benfleet Seconds, going down by five wickets.
Kabir Matwala scored 55 but Parks were unable to build their innings thanks to the Benfleet bowling attack and were removed for 158.
John Bull (five for 75) and John Hearn (three for 26) were the protagonists for Benfleet.
In reply, Benfleet reached the required total thanks to Craig Platt (57) and David Joel (45), who helped the home side hit 159 with five wickets in hand.
