High Beach’s run chase ultimately came up short as they missed out by the gut-wrenching margin of four runs at Stansted Seconds on Saturday.
Batting first the home side were off the pace and could only put up 143 before being removed; Alex Brooks (three for 26) and Feisal Islam (two for 24) impressing with the ball.
And following a woeful start the visitors made it to within touching distance of a winning total thanks to John Gregory (42) and Richard Ward (13 not out) but were cleaned out on 139.

Wanstead and Snaresbrook top the group after a 26-run win under the Duckworth-Lewis method against Buckhurst Hill on Sunday.
Batting first, Wanstead made a bright start with openers Akram (36) and Hassan Chowdhury (50) making quick-fire contributions in a total of 169 for four.
The Hill response stuttered and although Alexander Maskell (61) bashed his way to a good total from 36 deliveries, the away side closed on 143 for seven to come up short of the total required for victory.
