YOUNG Orion Harriers runners dominated the Waltham Forest London Mini-Marathon trials at Hackney Marshes.

The event - organised by the Waltham Forest Sports Development Team - was attended by boy and girl athletes aged 11 to 18, who competed for the eight available places within each age group to gain entry to the main races which take place in London on Sunday, April 13.

In the girls' 11 to 12 age category, the first eight runners home were all Orion members. Georgia Tuckfield took first place, followed by Sydney Taylor, Charlotte Matthews, Leah Honeychurch, Sienna Blake, Isabella MacQueen, Chloe Ahmet and Rosie Hudson-Edmonds.

In the boys' 11-12, Orion claimed the first six qualifying places, with Paul Inkpen taking first position, followed by Auberic Hall, Jack Waller, Rowan Mahon, Cheyenne Antoine-Chagar and Andrew Adams.

The girls' 13-14 year old race saw a win for Orion's Lauren MacGregor, with club colleagues Armanni Antoine-Chagar (second), Jay Andrews (third), Laura O'Connor (fourth) and Laura Periera (sixth) all comfortably qualifying.

Orion dominated in the boys' age 13-14 run, with Alex Gordon taking first place, Auberon Hall second, Ellis Ball fourth, Buddy Green fifth, Joseph Glynn sixth, Thomas Dookes seventh and Nathaniel Glynn eighth.

Sisters Chloe and Eloise Lecuyer came first and second for Orion in the girls' age 15-17 race.

Orion was also well represented in the boys' age 15-17 run, with Matthew Moy finishing third, Aaron Farmer fourth, Frankie Conway sixth, Ben Hall seventh and Ben Hayes eighth, all qualifying.

The Mini-Marathon trial was also attended by runners from Redbridge, Hackney and Newham and a team award was given to the borough that put in the most outstanding performances on the day - won by Waltham Forest.
