Slough 4
(SEHL Premier) OLD Loughtonians Ladies found runaway league leaders Slough too hot to handle as they slumped to defeat.
Slough, who recently finished fifth in the European Indoor Championships, were on fine form right from the start with swift passing movements.
It was no surprise when they took a tenth minute lead when Alex Scott deflected a penalty corner high into the net.
Moments later a smart finish by ex-England and Great Britain international Jane Smith doubled the advantage.
She coolly shrugged off her marker and deflected the ball past Loughts keeper Lisa Griffin.
Loughts upped the pressure late in the half but could not find a breakthrough, while Slough's powerful forwards outnumbered their opponents in defence.
And it was much the same after the break with Slough scoring two minutes in, Scott notching her second and her side's third from a short corner.
The visitors sealed an emphatic display with a fourth, scored by Chloe Strong, on the hour mark.
The result leaves Loughts four points adrift of safety and they have just four games to save their Premier League status for next year.
The ladies next game is away at Ipswich on Saturday.
