FOUR team of athletes from Loughton Athletic Club were in action at the Essex County Road Relay Championships at Chelmsford.
The women entered three teams of three runners. The A team came home in an excellent seventh place in an overall time of 75mims 4secs for the 3.5-mile course.
The team was led off by Lorna Gaffney, who returned a time of 24mins 56secs, followed by Caroline Real (24mins 54secs), and Gabrielle Brooks (25mins 14secs).
The B team came in 11th, with Michelle Hurley (27mins 21secs), Helen Real (26mins 54secs) and Abbey Pollock (28mins 1sec) allrunning well in the blustery conditions.
Loughton C team finished in 20th position, with Vicky Morris (30mins 22secs), Gwen Harwood (32mins 46secs) and Jean Hobbs (30mins) all putting in strong runs.
The men raced in teams of four, with Loughton coming home in 21st place in an overall time of 95mins 12secs.
Tony Babb led the team in with a time of 22mins 42secs, following by Mick Rolfe (23mins 8secs), Ian Hollyer (26mins 12secs) and Brett Underhill (23mins 10secs).
