THE Lakeside Hammers have arranged for junior Jerran Hart to spend the 2008 season out on loan to Welsh Premier League side the Newport Wasps.

The 17-year-old, who was born in Ipswich, is an asset of the Hammers, and has impressed all at the Arena Essex Raceway with his rate of progress over the last year.

The deal comes about following long serving Hammers star Leigh Lanham advising him that he should be racing full-time in the Premier League rather than just concentrating on Conference League racing this forthcoming season.

Hart comes into the Wasps team on a 3.00 average, with their promoter Tim Stone happy to have him on board. He said: "Jerran is very keen to get going and we feel sure he can do a good job for us at number seven.

"He's been to our training schools and he has adapted to the track with no problems at all. I've been very impressed with him.

"I spoke to Jon Cook, his promoter at Lakeside, and also to Leigh (Lanham) who is a rider I've respected and had a good relationship with for a long time, and they both feel it will be a good move for him. He will be a very useful addition to our squad. He's young and capable of scoring points and is someone who I'm sure will excite the Newport fans."

Following the deal being arranged Cook, the Hammers co promoter and team manager stated: "I believe Jerran has a very bright future in the sport and by putting him out on loan to Newport it will give him more experience.

"It's the next rung up the ladder for him having impressed with his performances in both the Academy and Conference Leagues last season. This season will only be his second year in the Sport and he is very much one who we will be looking to for the future here with the Hammers."
