ATHLETICS
LOCAL athlete Chloe Galloway returned from appendicitis to take third place and the bronze medal in the England Athletics U17 Penthahlon.
The Woodford Green Athletic Club with Essex Ladies athlete finished with a personal best of 3,335 points after recording PB's in the hurdles (9.05secs) and the long jump (5.40m).
Meanwhile, club runners Simon Plummer and Bertie Powell won their respective cross country events.
Plummer bounced back from his disappointing sixth place in the recent Scottish National CC to win the Devizes 10km in Wiltshire.
His scalps included Woodford's Ewen Malloch, who finished in third place.
In Hackney, Powell scored another victory on his home patch of Victoria Park in winning the Michael Penman 10km.
He came home in 31mins 55secs, just five seconds outside his PB.
Dave Cox ran a terrific 35mins 1sec, while Jim Roche, who organised the event in memory of a runner who was tragically knocked down and killed while training in Spain, gave out at 9km with a calf problem.
