Tonbridge Angels 3
Leyton 0

(Ryman Premier) BRAVE Leyton almost recorded a morale-boosting point away at Tonbridge, but effectively fell to two late penalties and a sending off.

The Lilywhites defended resolutely for the opening 70 minutes and even had the better of the early exchanges of the second half.

John Bricknell came closest to opening the scoring in the 48th minute with a drive that was well held by Angels keeper Matt Reed.

Angels dominated the first half with John Beales and Jamie Cade coming close, while Carl Rook's powerful shot forced Leyton keeper Sam Tanner into a fantastic save.

It took until the 71st minute for the hosts to break the deadlock when Rook scored from the penalty spot after Anthony Storey had been dragged down.

Any chance of a Leyton fightback ended in the 89th minute.

First, Ben Gracey was sent off for a foul on Storey and then, from the resulting free kick, Victor Renner handled in the box to give away a second penalty. Rook stepped up to make the game safe.

And there was still time for the Angels forward to seal his hat trick, turning in a Michael Phillips cross in stoppage time.

- Leyton are away to Staines on Saturday.
