GOLF DARREL James left the rest of the field struggling in his wake when he carded a remarkable 62 nett off his 13 handicap to walk away with the March Medal at Woodford Golf Club.
His nearest two rivals were eight shots adrift - club vice-captain Mark Deeming, who plays off six and was runner-up, and former club champion Michael Everitt finished third.
Four-handicap Everitt returned the lowest gross score of 74.
However, James, who spends a good deal of time in Morocco where he has a hotel being built, suffers another one shot cut in his handicap as a result of his success.
Keith Phillips came back to form in Division Two when he returned a nett score of 68 to win by two shots from 22-handicap Steve Parlor and 16-handicap Mike Hennessy, who both returned scores of 70 nett.
Hennessy's 86 was the lowest gross in the division.
