Waltham Forest 2
Old de Ferrians 0
(NE14HOCKEY East Div 2S) WALTHAM Forest ladies will go into their final match of the season still dreaming of promotion after notching another well deserved victory against bottom of the league Old de Ferrians.
The visitors were no push over team and despite a great number of chances Forest had trouble finding the gap in their armour.
A penalty corner gave the hosts their first goal, Ayleen Duske passing back to injector Anna Pearson to sweep in at the near post for a textbook move executed to perfection.
Forest were playing confidently but with so may players ploughing forward, they were always susceptible to a fast counter and Ferrians produced some very quick and threatening moves to trouble the defence.
Jo Mitchell stepped into action several times to thwart the visitors with her effective reverse stick tackle.
Keeper Mog Campbell also found herself saving the day on more than one occassion as she ably dealt with a couple of one-on-one situations.
Forest's second goal was a carbon copy of the first, with Duske and Pearson repeating the successful formula to give Forest the two-goal cushion.
The win moves Forest up to third place in the league with just one game - away at Bromley and Beckenham on March 29 - to play.
