TOOT Hill golfer Mike Ballinger recently helped the Essex seniors to secure a 5-5 draw with their Sussex counterparts with a brilliant hole in one.
This early season practice match took the form of a ten-a-side match play contest off scratch for the over 55s men.
It was played at the Waldringfield Golf Club and it was a particularly memorable day for Ballinger who as well as gaining a six and five win, the largest margin in the match, scored a hole in one at the 109 yard long par three, 11th hole.
This was the first time the Toot Hill man had played for this county team.
There was also a notable performance from Chigwell's Tommy Dod, who was three down with three to play in his match but ended up drawing with Mike Woods.
