EPPING FOOTBALL ROUNDUP
DEBDEN Sports picked up their first silverware of the season with a Romford and District Liberty of Havering Cup triumph over Newtown Wesley.
Adam Hines low curling free kick after 30 minutes was the only goal of a cup final fixture played at Aveley FC.
Debden are still in the hunt for four more trophies, including the Romford and District Senior Division title.
Meanwhile, Ben Polley scored all four goals as Ongar Town recorded a 4-2 Essex Olympian League Division One win at Faces FC.
Joe Gadsdon and Damien Yoxall scored for the home side.
Ongar travel to Stambridge United on Saturday.
Loughton missed out on a cup final day out after losing 3-1 to Sheering Reserves in the Bishop's Stortford, Stansted and District League plate semi-final.
They took the lead soon into the second half when Jim Rogers cut in to drive home inside the far post.
But Sheering rallied to secure the victory with three late strikes - it was the second week in succession that Loughton had lost a cup semi final.
Loughton are at home to local rivals Pelly House in a league fixture on Saturday.
Elsewhere, it proved to be a frustrating weekend for the other Epping-based clubs whose fixtures were washed out by the weather.
Epping saw their Olympian League Premier fixture at home to Benfleet postponed.
They now face a relegation six-pointer at home to Shell Club Corringham on Saturday.
In Herts County Senior League, Buckhurst Hill had their clash with Herts County Senior League whipping boys Bedwell Rangers cancelled, while Debden's meeting with Sarrat was postponed.
Hill are away to Lemsford and Debden travel to Old Palmiterians on Saturday.
