HAINAULT Roads Club rider Chris Tomkins braved severe weather to complete the VC Revolution 24-mile Time Trial in Birch, near Colchester.
Sleet and freezing wind made for less than ideal conditions but Tomkins crossed the line in a time of 1hr 11mins 3secs.
On the same day, whilst not actually racing, other Hainault riders were out training as usual exhibiting a display of their grit and determination that augers well for their future performances in the coming season.
Previously, a quartet of riders from the club competed in their first ten-mile time trial of the season, an open Eastern Counties Cycling Association event using the E91 course starting in Leaden Roding, Essex.
Continuing his current run of good form Paul Godfrey finished the fastest of the four with a time of 24mins 12secs to secure ninth place in the overall results.
Over a minute down, in 25mins 14secs, was Mark Steers.
Club Champion Rob Dulson recorded 25mins 34ecs, while Brian Ward finished in 29mins 52secs.
