ESSEX all-rounder Graham Napier has been rewarded for his big-hitting summer by being named in England’s squad for the Hong Kong Sixes.
The tournament will be held at the Kowloon Cricket Club on November 8 and 9.
The event will again include an All-Stars team, who were beaten in last year’s final by Sri Lanka.
Napier’s inclusion completes a memorable summer for the Colchester-born star, who shook the cricketing world by belting an unbeaten 152 off just 58 balls in Essex’s Twenty20 Cup win over Sussex at Chelmsford in June.
The Essex player hit 16 sixes, a world record, in reaching his century in just 44 balls.
For that achievement, Napier was handed the 2008 Walter Lawrence Trophy for the season’s fastest hundred in any form of domestic cricket.
He will be presented with the Walter Lawrence Trophy and a cheque for £5,000 at a special dinner in the Long Room at Lord's on October 15.
Napier is currently recovering from a minor ankle injury he suffered in Essex’s final NatWest Pro40 game of the season against Kent at Canterbury.
England Hong Kong Sixes squad: Mascarenhas (capt), Bresnan, Joyce, Maddy, Napier, Trott, Wagg.
