ESSEX will begin their defence of the Friends Provident Trophy by facing Glamorgan, Lancashire, Derbyshire and Northampton-shire at the group stage.
The Eagles, who lifted the cup by beating Kent at Lord’s in August will take on each of their Group D opponents at home and away, with the top two sides reaching the quarter-finals.
Elsewhere, beaten finalists Kent will take on minnows Scotland, Somerset, Warwickshire and Twenty20 Cup holders Middlesex in Group B.
Group A contains Ireland, Hampshire, Notts, Worcestershire and Leicestershire, while Group C consists of Surrey, Durham, Glouces
