Old Loughts ladies secured promotion to the National Indoor League Division One after a nervy weekend of action.
The local side demonstrated their battling qualities as they ran out winners in three of their five games, but they had to rely on a last-gasp East Grinstead victory over Belper to guarantee their passage.
Loughts got off to a bad start as they were narrowly beaten by Grinstead in their first match, but they came roaring back against a strong Harleston Magpies side with goals from Emma Bucknall and Ele Powell.
The team then dispatched the University of Birmingham 4-2 before playing out a thrilling 1-1 draw with promotion rivals Belper.
Loughts ended the weekend on a high with a 5-3 victory over Cannock, and, combined with East Grinstead’s win, that was enough to see them through.
