SAB BHAM, community development manager for Leyton Orient’s Community Sports Programme, was recently honoured for his ten years of service throughout six boroughs, including Waltham Forest and Redbridge.
Bham has dedicated his career to helping young people succeed and thrive in the community by launching an array of educational, sporting and social projects during his time with the programme.
He was presented with a crystal award at a special presentation evening last month for his efforts over the years, and after accepting the award he vowed to continue his good work in the community.
“The dinner event was not really for me, it was to thank partners and friends for a decade of support, in all six boroughs,” he said. “I thank all the many young people that have responded to my input over the years.
“Let’s hope the next ten years are filled with even more stories of how we can have an impact on an individual’s life, and benefit the community as a whole.”
Bham has also played an influential role in organising a special charity 20 over cricket match in memory of Guardian legend Dave Pringle, who died last month.
Former director of LOCSP Grant Cornwell has agreed to assemble a team to take on a ‘Sab XI’ on February 3, during the launch of the ‘Hit 4 Six’ tournament, with all the proceeds going to a charity nominated by Beryl, Dave’s wife.
Players will sport t-shirts emblazoned with the letters ‘Dave Pringle’ across the shoulders during the match, while all trophies and medals won will display Dave’s name.
