OLD LOUGHTS men kept their promotion bid alive with an encouraging 4-1 win over Sevenoaks in the SEHL Conference East Division.
The local side would have known they were in for a tough afternoon, having lost to their hosts last time around. But the combination of Darren Cheesman and Alex Jennings eased the pressure with the latter rounding the keeper and slotting into an empty net.
Jennings was again the beneficiary from some good work by Crayton Napoleon, as he fired, reverse stick, into the roof of the net to double the lead.
A deflected short corner halved the deficit for the home team, but the game was made safe when Liam Doidge's shot found its target, while Prosser added a further gloss to the score after an hour.
There was more good news for the team as the ladies also overcame Sevenoaks, with Georgina Zumeris making an immediate impact to give her side the lead.
The visitors levelled in the second half, but after Zumeris was felled Miranda Weeks stepped up to sweep home the penalty stroke. She then took the game out of Sevenoaks’ reach, converting Loughts’ third after a slick passing move.
The team play Staines at the weekend, while the men take on Ipswich.
