MANCHESTER United legend Lee Sharpe has lent his backing to a new form of small-sided football at Leyton Score Centre.
FUTSAL is to be launched at the local centre after taking off across Europe, with support of football governing bodies UEFA and the FA.
Sharpe was keen to get involved after taking part in a number of FUTSAL events himself. The game is built around skill and is played with a low-bouncing size five football and specialist goals.
Six teams with squads of up to 12 players will enter the tournament at Score in Leyton, which will kick off on April 9, while all games will be officiated by Essex FA Futsal referees and winners will be entered into the national division.
Sharpe said of the new game: “I can see the game growing quickly as it is sharp and skilful.”
