EPPING golfer Simon Khan recorded his best result of the European Tour season so far, claiming seventh place at the Enjoy Jakarta Indonesia Open.

The 36-year-old professional produced a roaring finish in the final two rounds to surge up the leaderboard, eventually finishing four shots adrift of winner Thongchai Jaidee on eight under par.

A first round score of 68 saw Khan end the day top of the pile, but a disastrous four over par second round saw him fall away dramatically.

However, he soon regained his touch and navigated his way round the New Kata Golf Course expertly, with two more scores of 68 seeing him up into a tie for seventh with compatriot Simon Griffiths and India’s Jyoti Randhawa.

Khan had made a somewhat lacklustre start to the tour, newly dubbed The Race to Dubai, with a 52nd place at last month’s Johnnie Walker Classic, his previous best effort.

Meanwhile, Chigwell golfer Oliver Fisher’s disappointing start to the campaign continued last week, as he could only manage a tie for 54th, with a score of one over par in the same competition.
