IT WAS President’s Day at Old Loughtonians, and the results fitted the occasion.
In the Allianz Mini League, the Foresters beat Oxford university’s third XI, 2-1. Richard Chere equalised for Loughts before Alistair Butcher fired home for victory in a result that puts them top of the table.
Old Loughts men’s outfit romped to a 6-0 win over an underwhelming Ipswich side. Alex Jennings, Liam Doidge, with a hat trick, Oliver Didham, and Stuart Robson all netted.
The ladies’ team beat Staines 3-1 in a hard fought battle which went all the way, and takes them to third in the East Conference.
Staines took the lead, but Ele Powell levelled. Later, Miranda Weeks put Loughts ahead from a penalty corner, before Becky Halle scored the decisive winner.
