WANSTEAD'S winning run had to end sometime and today they succumbed to Enfield’s mix of U9’s and 10’s.
From the start of the first game Wanstead were under pressure. Enfield’s direct running and ability to create space out wide led to a couple of early scores From then on Wanstead began to put more effort into their tackles; bringing down wave after wave of Enfield players until finally running out of defenders to concede further scores.
The second half saw Wanstead play a little smarter using Charlie Harry and Zac to batter their way through the Enfield defensive wall drawing in the cover to create their own chances out wide culminating in two trys. Final score Wanstead 2 Enfield 6.
The second game saw Wanstead show greater determination and self belief than they had in the first match especially Zac who time after time made try saving tackles and created havoc when going forwards to set up the support players.
This determination rubbed off on the rest of the team scoring 5 trys in this match. The best of the bunch was a pick and go from Daniel Moran at a scrum deep in the Wanstead half which saw him sprint up the narrow side, through a huge gap and run untouched to the try line.
Five trys were still not enough to win this game as Enfield again managed to score six.
