Maldon Saints 1
Redbridge Ladies 1

AS THAT famous football anthem goes: ‘When you walk through a storm, hold your head up high’, and both teams did that on Sunday.

Appalling weather dominated most of the game with goals being scored early in the first half and very late in the second, either side of the storm.

Redbridge took the lead after dominating the first 15 minutes with Pogmore finishing neatly after being put through by Edwards and they had the best of the first half with a midfield of Skelton, Culley, Peattie and De Ferry putting the Saints under constant pressure.

Pogmore and Edwards were both dangerous on several occasions but went unrewarded.

The second half was more closely matched but again Redbridge had the best chances and would have gone further ahead but for several saves by the Saints goalkeeper.

Al-Mudallal, Hargreaves and Probert defended admirably and just when they thought it was all over Maldon scored an excellent goal from 25 yards with 30 seconds to go.

A game to remember for the character shown by the players who kept fighting to the end. Redbridge remain unbeaten in league & cup.
