Soccer Skills 2
Westward B 1
(Echo League, Under 10s)
SOCCER Skills left it very late to overcome a rugged Westward team.
The home team started the brighter with Marco Ruffini and Matthew Teh controlling the midfield. Both Harry Richardson and Reece Holman went close very early on and it was no surprise when Holman expertly drilled in from the edge of the box for the opener just before the break.
The second half saw Westward come more into the game, but with Bertie Parker, Massimo Ruffini, Matthew Claydon and Joseph Tobias defending well, it was still a surprise when Westward equalised.
The game looked destined for a draw until the final seconds when a great kick from Danny Brett caused confusion in the visitors defence and Richardson smashed the ball home from the edge of the area to give the home side all three points.
