Brentwood 1
RLFC 2
IN AN exciting close-fought game Redbridge came out on top but had to battle all the way for a deserved victory.
In a great start RLFC went close on several occasions. De Ferry, Skelton and Culley had their work cut out for them in midfield against a determined Brentwood side. Both teams were very evenly matched and the deadlock only broken in the last minute of the first half. Edwards broke through the centre and put a defence splitting pass through to McKenna who drove low past the keeper.
A much tighter second half saw Pogmore, Edwards and McKenna strive for a breakthrough while at the other end Fuwa kept goal with a string of great saves. Brentwood pulled a goal back early on and the game developed into a thrilling end-to-end tussle. Probert defended strongly with Al-Mudallal and Skelton backing her up with rock solid performances. With ten minutes left on the clock RLFC piled on more pressure. Edwards broke into the goal area, turned a defender and crashed a great shot into the roof of the net for a superb match winner.
Brentwood endeavoured to fight back and in a nerve racking final five minutes RLFC defended resolutely to hold on to their slender lead to become league champions!
Well done and congratulations to a fantastic RLFC team squad for a great season of football.
Redbridge: Al-Mudallal, Culley, De Ferry, Edwards, Fuwa,, McKenna, Pogmore, Probert, Skelton
