CENTRAL Bowls club surged through to the second round of the National ‘Top Club’ Competition with a hard-fought victory over Clementswood.
Rod Hudson won a keenly-contested singles match, but the hosts battled back with two wins of their own.
However, the foursome of Brian Jones, Mick Bird, George Coster and Steve Welsh edged their match 22-20, before the pair of John Durrant and Dave Butler stormed from behind to win the decider 23-20.
Central also enjoyed a 97-72 friendly win over Hainault on Saturday.
