ORION Harriers athletes Georgia Tuckfield and Oliver Heek stormed to victory in the prestigious Essex Track and Field Championships at the weekend.
U13 athlete Tuckfield streaked to the line in the 1200m, while Heek claimed the 800m title in the senior men’s race, before taking silver in the 1500m.
There were also medals for India Wellings, Tommy Black, Lauren MacGregor and Huy Vu.
Meanwhile, Orion came close to winning their opening Young Athletes League fixture, after a number of superb individual performances.
The irrepressible Tuckfield led the way once again, with a convincing win in the 800m. Calum Farqular, Calum McLarty and Charlie Weston all triumphed in the boys’ U13 category, while U15 athletes Mohammed Bapikee, Alberic Hall, Jess Taylor, Aaron Glasgow and Jack Waller all enjoyed the climb to the top of the rostrum after a series of impressive wins.
In the girls’ U15s Nikkita Sartori-Sigrist and India Wellings topped their respective fields, while U17 athletes Amy Jung, Lauren Periera, Auberon Hall, Bradley Brand and Tommy Black all registered fine victories.
Elsewhere, Orion’s Shay Joyce recorded an excellent second place finish in the challenging Bluebell 5.2 Miles Multi-Terrain Race on Sunday.
