ORION HARRIERS’ athlete Oliver Heeks emerged as a star of the future when he became the running club’s first Essex Senior Men’s Champion over 800m.
Heeks, 20, is the first runner from the Chingford-based club to achieve the feat in almost 100 years of competition.
His time of 1min 52sec was also a new personal best mark.
However, not content with his glistening trophy, Heeks returned to the track the following day to compete in a relatively new event for him, the 1500m.
Clearly spurred on from the previous day’s achievements, he went on to break the elusive four minute barrier for the first time, claiming second place.
