ORION HARRIERS’ young athletes recorded their second successive team victory in the third Young Athletes League Division One fixture at Walthamstow Pool and Track last weekend.
A combination of excellent individual performances ensured the Chingford club finished ahead of teams from Southend, Hastings and Eastbourne.
Chioma Onyeche led the way in the under 15 category with victories in the shot putt and discus. Rising star Georgia Tuckfield triumphed in the 800m in the U13 race, while Amy Richards was twice a runner-up.
U15 athlete India Wellings won the pole vault, while U17 athletes Melissa Timpson (triple jump), Lauren MacGregor (1,500m) and Jay Andrews (3,000m) all enjoyed wins.
The U13 boys were not to be denied, with good wins for George Viera (shot putt), Hanif Henry (long jump and 75m hurdles), Darnell Shakes (200m) and Callum McCarthy (800m).
Aaron Glasgow won the U15 boys’ 200m, while U17 boys Tommy Black (high jump), Craig Carter (100m) and Bradley Bryant (discus) also triumphed.
