THERE was cricket all over the area last weekend, but no winner when Chingford hosted Hutton.

The game fizzled out into a draw in spite of decent knocks by Alfie Taylor (75) and Ben McGregor (53) for Chingford, as the middle order propped up an innings in which the openers and the tail failed to spark.

Opening pair Robert Whitfield and Sam Kirnon had been dismissed for a combined total of four runs, before Taylor stepped up to the crease and set the hosts en-route to 186-9.

Earlier, Len Daniels and Ben MacGregor each bagged two wickets each, as Hutton recorded an innings of 220-7.

Wanstead eased to a five-wicket home win against Gidea Park and Romford, on Saturday.

Daniel Walters top scored for Wanstead with 39 from number three in the batting.

Opener John Chambers hit 33 before he was caught lbw.

Adnam Akram was caught out for eight. He could not repeat his innings of 104, which so impressed last week.

Mervyn Westfield guided Wanstead over the finish line with a knock of 22, with a little help from Shahid Saeed and Chris Laas.

Earlier, Westfield, Chambers and Zain Shahzad bagged a brace of wickets each as Gidea Park recorded a total of 146-6 from 40 overs.

South Woodford lost again, this time to Upminister. The strongest performances were by the openers Robert Marshall (30), Hassan Chowdhury (16) and number three Robert Leiper (61), as Woodford made 199-8.

Upminister reached victory with three wickets to spare.

There was no joy for Loughton either, who lost by 27 runs to Orset.

Bowler Tony Palladino ripped through Orset’s batting to end with six for 67 runs, while Seb Gallagher took four wickets as the visitors made 159.

But Loughts fell short. Rizwan Qureshi, with 31, was top scorer.

It was worse for Walthamstow. They crashed to a 132-run defeat in High Wycombe, as the hosts recorded a mammoth knock of 355-6.

Neal Johnson was star-man for Stow. He took three wickets and hit 77 runs.

Buckhurst Hill were hit for six against Shenfield, who reached the 170 target for just two wickets.

Epping bowled out Southend for 76 to win by 46 runs. Inayat Hassan ended with figures of four wickets for nine runs.

Epping Foresters won their third game in a row after they defeated champions Newport.

Ricky Ellis (5 for 50) starred with the ball, while Andrew French hit 82 with the bat.
