EPPING golfer Simon Khan was made to wait for his US Open debut after torrential rain washed out play on the first day at New York's Bethpage Black course.
More than half the field – including Khan – will have to wait until today (Friday) to begin their first round, while the second round will not be completed until Saturday.
The greens and fairways were flooded as the weather wreaked havoc with the course for the entire day. And Khan, a 500/1 outside shot, will be glad to have avoided wading through the rain, as it contributed to some high scoring for those who did manage to get their rounds underway.
