THREE of Orion Harriers’ most talented athletes were in typically dominant form at the prestigious Eastern Counties Track and Field Championships in Cambridge at the weekend.

Representing Essex, Lauren MacGregor, Jay Andrews and Natalie Kipps flew the flag for the Chingford-based club, as they brought home a clutch of gold and silver medals.

MacGregor and Andrews, both 15, left the rest of the field for dead in the Under 17 Women’s 3000 metres and battled each other for the victory, with Lauren eventually crossing the line ahead of her club mate.

The win was the young athlete’s second title in as many months, having triumphed in the Essex Schools 3000m.

An impressive season has seen the pair selected to represent Essex over the same distance in the forthcoming Inter-Counties events.

Twenty-year-old Natalie Kipps was imperious in the middle distance events, as she first claimed the 800m crown with a well-measured race.

She then sliced through the field to take the silver medal in the 1500m.
