WOODFORD bounced back from their defeat against Westcliff by beating Stevenage Town.
The Highams men's 23-31 win moved them up to fourth place in London Division One North.
Woodford almost conceded a try immediately and they were out of sorts during the early stages.
But as the contest went on Woodford began to assert themselves, with a Luke Brewin penalty and a Chris Maisey try.
Captain Rob Connell added more points for the Woodmen, giving them the lead at half-time.
After the break Woodford began as they ended the first half, with Ben Lloyd extending the deficit with a penalty.
Woodford made victory certain when Ed Goodey drove over the line after a lineout.
Stevenage did manage to score a consolation effort but the Woodmen held on for their first win of the season.
