SENRAB Under-13s A team enjoyed a narrow victory over Valence in the Echo Premier at the weekend.
The local side combated the long ball tactics of their opponents with an attacking brand of football, epitomised by man-of-the-match Rigers Kabashi and Myer Chuckwu-Onu, who were outstanding throughout the contest.
Malaki Toussaint grabbed the only goal of the game.
Elsewhere, in the Essex County Girls League, Redbridge Ladies U15s were edged out in a dramatic clash against Southend Manor.
Redbridge twice pulled ahead against the title favourites, but a second half penalty miss proved costly as Southend converted one of their own and scored late on to take the points with a 4-3 scoreline.
Meanwhile, on the rugby front, Woodford enjoyed a comfortable 27-5 victory over South Woodham Ferrers in Essex Rugby U15 Division One.
After a period of dominant play, Woodford took the lead when prop Ian Bukenya bulldozed his way over the line from close range.
Dougie Hammond then sprinted clear of an opponent to touch down for the second score, while Matt Grogan added a third before the break.
The visitors managed a try of their own, but Alex Stroud cancelled that out when he successfully chased a long kick downfield before going over for Woodford’s fourth score of the day.
James Piras was the last man to cross the line to put a gloss on the result.
Both Woodford A and B teams are in action next Sunday, as they both play Hertford RFC.
