Walthamstow Lawn Tennis Club have teamed up with Wimbledon Experience Ltd (WimX) to make their club a smash hit on the local tennis scene.

The WimX coaching team all have Wimbledon pedigree, including former British number one Helen Crook, and their influence stretches from clubs to international players.

WimX have helped the development of a number of players, with local tennis star Georgina Bastick leading the way with a Great Britain ranking.

Crook said: “We want all juniors to have a good tennis experience regardless of their standard and aspirations.

“We’re confident that Walthamstow LTC will provide a productive environment for all levels as well as developing any elite players that may emerge.

“We’re also confident this club will not go the same way as so many other small clubs around the county.

“The new club structure will include a comprehensive talent ID system, and a scholarship programme will be developed over time.”

Ray Sefton, WLTC secretary, added: “Tennis is a year-round sport and something you can enjoy at all ages and we’re delighted that WimX are going to play a role in building our future membership.”

A free Christmas Open Day is being held at Walthamstow Lawn Tennis Club on Saturday December 19 between 1-3pm.

The club is based at 48a Greenway Avenue, Walthamstow, E17 3QN.
