RUNNERS braved the winter cold at the Essex Cross Country League event, hosted by Orion Harriers.
The meet was also Orion’s Cross Championships for the junior members.
Under 13 runner Georgia Tuckfield easily won her race to top the Essex individual rankings.
Fellow Orionites, Evie Foster (15th), Madeline Carr (20th) and Katie Inch (23rd) also did well, for Orion to stand third in the team rankings.
Connor Caplin finished highest among Orion boys, in fifth place.
Callum McLarty (12th), Tom Hutchinson (15th) and Charlie Weston (16th) also impressed as the U13 boys ranked second.
In the U15 boys’ event Jess Taylor (15th) and George Hoy (16th) fought an exciting scrap. Auberic Hall (30th), Faiz Bapikee (37th), Jack Waller (38th) and Lewis Wilson (47th) all impressed.
In the Under 17 girls’ event, Lauren McGregor tops the individual standings after she won. Jay Andrews had a comfortable sixth-place finish, followed home by Laura O’Connor in 12th, Melissa Timpson in 14th and Amy Jung in 15th.
In the U17 boys’ race, Auberon Hall was sixth.
