ORION’s runners welcomed the new year in by building upon their successes already this season, as they competed in the final leg of the Essex League series in Colchester.
Both Georgia Tuckfield (under 13 girls) and Lauren MacGregor (under 17 girls) won their respective races to each finish the season’s overall individual standings in first place.
Helping Orion’s under 13 girls to the bronze medal in the season’s team event were Evie Foster (18th), Medeline Carr (22nd) and Sian Hicks (23rd).
In the under 13 boys’ race, Cheyenne Antoine-Chager finished in 11th place, supported by Charlie Weston in 20th position. Also competing were Ben Patterson (27th) and Callum McLarty (31st).
Orion's sole representative for the under 15 girls’ race was Armani Antoine-Chager, who came home in ninth place.
The Chingford club was well represented in the under 15 boys’ event, where Ben Silverstone finished in a respectable 16th position, followed home by Auberic Hall (21st), Toby Rankin (22nd), Jack Waller (28th) and Steven Adcock (29th).
This enabled the under 15 team to win the overall bronze medal for the season.
In addition to Lauren’s excellent effort for the under 17 girls, Jay Andrews completed the gruelling course in fifth position, while Melissa Timpson finished in 15th place.
For the under 17 boys, Alex Gordon completed the event in 19th place.
There were also promising runs from Ellis Ball (21st), Joseph Glynn (25th) and Nathaniel Glynn (27th).
