LOUGHTON-BASED Masters Academy, a martial arts school, is hosting an open day on Saturday, January 23.
“This is an opportunity for local residents to come and have a taste of the martial arts we offer,” said chief instructor Matthew Chapman.
People can try a bit of kickboxing, mixed martial arts, Brazilian jui jitsu, escrima, keysi or just have a play around on the equipment at the academy, which includes various punch bags, speedballs, a cage wall and boxing ring.
There will be six black-belt instructors present during the day to help teach or answer questions.
Matthew added: “People are sometimes intimidated by stepping into a martial arts gym and this day aims to take away the fear, and just let people experience the benefits of martial arts training in a relaxed and friendly environment.”
Anyone interested can turn up anytime between 1pm and 5pm. The Masters Academy is based at Unit C3, The Seedbed Centre, Langston Road. Go to www.mas tersacademy.co.uk for further details. Everyone that attends the day will be given a free two-week training pass if they decide to start their journey to gaining a Black Belt.
