LEYTON beat the weather for the second time this year, as they played out a 2-2 draw with Ware on Tuesday night.
The point pulls them level with two sides also desperately trying to avoid relegation from Ryman Division One North, Redbridge and Cheshunt.
Ware are also stuck in the mire, so the draw has enabled the Lilywhites to suck them into the fight for survival, giving themselves a better chance of staving off the drop.
Leyton did manage one other game this year, a 4-0 defeat on January 2.
The heavy snowfall which has blanketed the country recently has buried grassroots football beneath it as well.
The fixtures calendar has been largely frozen for almost a month now, with just the rare game here and there getting played.
There is cause for optimism ahead of this week’s round of matches in the Ryman League, however.
That is as long as pitches which were first covered in snow and then became frozen, do not now suffer waterlogging as it melts.
Heavy rain is now forecast for Saturday too, but making predictions is almost certainly a waste of time.
Waltham Abbey of the Ryman Premier division have not played one league game since Boxing Day, last year.
Each of these local sides is a enduring a torrid time in their respective league campaigns.
Abbey begin the decade rooted to the bottom of the table, and Leyton have been dropping like a stone.
They face a tough test this weekend, with an away encounter against in-form Enfield Town at Goldsdown Road.
Play-off-chasing Town have scored four goals a game on their way to totting up a string of four consecutive victories.
By contrast, Leyton had lost their previous five clashes before Tuesday and will be looking for a first win since October last year.
