RIDGEWAY Rovers under-11s produced an incredible comeback to win the Echo League Challenge Cup on penalties at Ryman Premier League outfit Aveley’s stadium.
The team netted two late goals against Westward Boys B to take the match to extra-time. When that failed to separate the sides it was Ridgeway who held their nerve to prevail 2-1 on penalties, sparking jubilant scenes.
Meanwhile, Chingford’s U15s rugby team were crowned Essex Division Two champions after a fantastic season. The boys were ably supported by a huge effort behind the scenes, and they have the chance to add to that success when they take on Westcliff in the semi-final of the Essex Cup.
Elsewhere, Snaresbrook U21s’ sensational unbeaten run continued with a 2-1 away victory over Lakeside A. Elliott Boakye found Brandon Knight for the opener, while Dominic Herbert also netted.
Meanwhile, Walthamstow Wolves U10s went down 4-2 to league leaders Ryan, Rio Nelson getting both goals. The U13s crashed to a 5-0 defeat at East Ham Rovers.
Debden remain unbeaten after a 4-0 win over Leaside in a top-of-the-table clash in the Echo League. Tre Jordan-Davis bagged two and Rommill Patrick also netted.
