Orion Juniors hit new heights with a record medal haul at the Essex County Track & Field Championship, last week.

The youngsters won 15 medals which is double the 2009 tally.

On day one of the competition, Aaron Glasgow was crowned Essex champion as he won gold in the under 15’s boys 200 metres.

Aaron’s performance was closely followed by Georgia Tuckfield (U15s) and Jordan Bailey (U13s), who won silver medals in the 1500m and 200m, respectively.

George Hoy (U15s) came in third in the 1500m.

Chelmsford was the location for days two and three of the championships.

Tommy Black became Essex Champion in the high jump with a clearance of 1m 85cm.

This was followed by further superb gold medal performances by Lauren MacGregor (U17s) in the 3,000m (10m.41s).

Jordan Bailey (U13S) win the 200m.

Orion’s gold medal haul was completed in the U15s 200m by Aaron Glasgow (11.61s) and Jermaine Hamilton (11.66s).

Glasgow set a new Orion record with his sprint, and both are inside the top five fastest runners in the UK.

In the pole-vault, India Wellings came second in the U17s woman’s pole vault with a clearance of 2m 70cm.

Roseanne Ampofo, was second in the U17s woman’s 100m.

Frankie Conway second in the U20 men’s 1,500m.

The final medal compliment was made up of three bronzes. Amy Richards won two in the U15s girls 100m and the long jump.

Lizzie Peattie was third in the U15s girl’s high jump.
