Buckhurst Hill Bowling Club are celebrating their centenary year in style, the ladies' team beating an England side last week.
The national team sent a ladies and men's contingent to the local club and even recruited one of Buckhurst Hill's members. Maureen Clark was asked to don an England shirt, as they were one short. Barbara Langford, Phyllis Barnard, Ros Pike and Daphne Wood won their rink 23 - 8, which enabled Hill to claim a 59-54 victory. Peter Tuff, Henry Clayton, Stuart White and Ray Tredgett also won a rink in their match, 23-12.
