A DREAM move back home for Waltham Forest FC has been blocked by the Ryman League.

A panel of officials has ruled that because they did not sanction the move, then the club cannot return to Wadham Lodge, in Kitchener Road.

That means the Ryman One North outfit now face another season lodging at Cricklefield, in Ilford.

Club secretary Andy Perkins admitted that vital permission was not obtained.

But he blasted the league committee for its draconian line on the matter.

“They said we had to get the application for permission by May 31.

“But we did not know the move was even on at that time,” said Perkins.

“In the end they are supposed to act in the interest of the clubs, but they are not acting in our interest.

“We are not very happy about it.”

Perkins accused the Ryman League of creating false hope for Forest FC that its administrative oversight would be excused.

“They implied we were going to be allowed in,” said Perkins.

“They initiated the ground inspection and the floodlight inspection, so I would have thought they would have found a way around it.

“Why did they lead us on?”

Now the club have lodged an appeal against the league with the Football Association, the governing body of the game.

But Perkins fears Forest FC’s exile is set to continue a while longer yet.

“I think the establishment sticks together,” he said gloomily.

Guardian Series Sport contacted the Ryman League for a comment, but nobody was available.
