LAKESIDE Hammers speedway fans are being given the opportunity to get behind two of their rising stars.
Youngsters Marc Owen and Shane Hazelden are set to turn out for the Hackney Hawks at the Arena-Essex Raceway as they bid to kick-start their speedway careers.
To help the young riders on their way, the Hammers are proposing a unique sponsorship initiative, whereby fans are invited to donate between 10p and £1 per point scored by Owen and Hazelden when they take to the track for the Hawks.
Hammers owner Stuart Douglas said of the idea: "This is a brilliant way for everyone at the club to participate in the future of British Speedway by putting our lads first.
“We are completely committed to Marc and Shane, who are undoubtedly very talented, and we want to do all we can to help them climb the ladder of success. Every penny really does count to these lads, and I applaud everyone who feels they are able to help."
Lakeside Hammers hope that by helping to build the careers of some of their younger riders, they will be able to entice other youngsters to take up the sport.
